Villa Balbiano, set on the shores of Lake Como, provided an extraordinary setting for this destination wedding editorial. With its historic façade, beautifully manicured Italian gardens and breathtaking views across the water. The villa offered endless inspiration for a floral design that felt abundant and romantic, yet carefully considered within its surroundings.

Our vision was to create an abundant and elegant floral design while allowing the natural beauty of the venue to remain at the heart of the celebration. Every floral detail was thoughtfully considered to complement the architecture, landscape and atmosphere of Villa Balbiano.
Designing luxury wedding flowers inspired by the Italian landscape
When designing flowers for a destination wedding, our approach is always to create something that feels connected to the setting. Rather than bringing a design that could belong anywhere, we look at the surroundings, the architecture and the feeling of the venue to create florals that enhance the overall experience.
For this Lake Como wedding editorial, we wanted the flowers to feel romantic and abundant, with the softness and movement of a beautifully tended garden in full bloom, reflecting the landscape of Villa Balbiano and the lake beyond.
A floral aisle designed to create a magical ceremony moment
For the ceremony, we created an immersive floral aisle designed to make the journey towards the altar feel truly unforgettable.
Rather than a traditional floral arch, we lined the aisle with low-level garden-inspired arrangements, creating the feeling of walking through an abundance of flowers. Layers of seasonal blooms and considered foliage created softness and movement. Tall delphiniums introduced height and elegance throughout the design.
The result was an immersive ceremony setting that surrounded the couple with flowers while allowing the incredible views across Lake Como to remain at the heart of the design.
To bring the design together, we incorporated large statement urn arrangements at both the entrance of the aisle and the altar. These created consistency throughout the ceremony space and provided a beautiful, abundant backdrop against the water, framing the moment without overpowering the natural beauty of the location.
An elegant lakeside reception filled with candlelight and detail
Following the ceremony, the celebration continued with a sophisticated long dining table positioned in front of the villa, allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of the historic architecture and surrounding gardens.
For the reception flowers, we created a refined tablescape using a collection of mixed footed bowls, delicate bud vases and softly glowing candles in glass sleeves.
The combination of varied floral vessels, candlelight and layered textures created a beautifully considered tablescape that felt refined yet intimate, allowing guests to dine surrounded by flowers without overwhelming the setting. At the base of the intricately detailed wedding cake, an abundant floral meadow appeared to grow naturally from the gardens. This connected this final detail back to the wider floral story.
A celebration shaped by Villa Balbiano
Few venues have a sense of place quite like Villa Balbiano. Its waterfront setting, historic architecture and immaculate gardens each offer a distinct backdrop, allowing the design of a wedding to evolve naturally as guests move through the celebration.
The bride wore two exquisite gowns, reflecting the transition from a romantic ceremony to a sophisticated black-tie evening celebration. Her elegant style complemented the refined atmosphere of the day, while the surrounding gardens provided a magical setting for the couple’s portraits, with the villa and lake creating an unforgettable backdrop.
